Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are Co-Educational residential schools run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi under the agesis of Ministry of Human Resource Developement, Government of India. Its aim is to provide quality education to talented children of rural areas and provides free education, boarding, lodging, uniform & stationary to the students.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kundeshwar (Tikamgarh), established in 1986, is situated in Kundeshwar at a distance of 5 km from the district headquarter Tikamgarh. It is affliated to Central Board Of Secondary Education New Delhi (CBSE) & follows NCERT syllabus.
Facilities available
The school has well equipped Biology, Chemistry & Physics labs for students do get practical experience. LCD projectors,latest CDs and Internet is available in Science labs. The well stocked library of the school has a huge collection of books along with Internet & CDs for students. The computer lab is equipped with 40 computers with a broad band internet connection, so that students can be in touch with the latest technology and information. The Gymnasium, with latest fitness machines, provides opportunity to students and teachers to keep physically fit. The school has a pathology lab which gives students an opportunity to get acquainted with pathological science. The vocational lab of the Vidyalaya imparts training in typing and shorthand.
Academics & Co Curricular Activities
The school is affiliated to CBSE, follows NCERT curriculum and offers education from VI-XII standards. It offers science and vocational streams at 10 + 2 level. The school lays an extra emphasis on co curricular activities for all round development of students. The co curricular activities include Arts, Music, Scouts & Guides. Special outings like camps are organized for developing leadership qualities.
Admission Procedure & Eligibility Criteria
A maximum 80 students are admitted at the entry level,whivh is class VI. For getting admission to the school, the students have to pass Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) conducted by CBSE. The test consists of objective questions on reasoning, mathematics and language, specially designed so that the students of backward areas do not feel disadvantaged.
Students are admitted in IX & XI grade too, depending on the vacant seats. Students interested in getting admitted to IX & XI grade, have to pass the entrance test based on the syllabus of the qualifying classes (VIII & X respectively).
A child is allowed once only to take the entrance exam. The children studying in sixth class in any school of the district can take the entrance exam, provided they are aged between 9-13.
Fee Structure
The school provides free education, boarding, lodging, uniform & stationary under The National Education Policy, 1986. However, a nominal fee of Rs. 200 per month is charged for classses XI & XII (girl students are exempted).
