Kendriya Vidyalayas (or popularly known as Central Schools) are basically for children of transferable Central Government employees including Defence and Para-military personnel by providing a common education programme.KVs are Co-Ed Schools affiliated to CBSE and run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi.
Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Bhopal (the city of lakes), established in August 1994, is situated in the heart of the city at a distance of 500 meters form Habib Ganj Railway Station. It is an English medium school with around 1600 students & around 50 trained teachers on its roll.
Academics
The school is an English medium, co-ed day school affiliated to CBSE following NCERT curriculum. It offers quality education to students from I-XII standard with commerce and science subjects at +2 levels.
Facilities
The Vidyalaya has a huge library with books on different topics for reference of students, well equipped Physics, Chemistry & Bio Labs for practical experience of science students, a Gymnasium with latest exercising equipment for physical training and fitness of students and teachers and a Mathematics Lab. The Computer lab is well equipped with 77 latest computers with a 100 mbps broadband connection, so that the students can keep pace with the changing technology and latest information. The school has three LCD Projectors for Audio-Visual education method.
Fees
The Vidyalaya charges a fee according to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan norms. As, all the KVs are funded by the Central Government, the school charges a nominal tuition fee per month which is Rs 200 for IX & X and Rs 300/Rs.400 for XI & XII Commerce & Humanities/XI & XII Science, respectively. However, a Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi (school development fund) of Rs. 240-Rs 300 is collected per month, depending on the class and subjects. A very nominal computer fee of Rs. 50-100 is charged depending on the class and subjects.
Games & Sports
The school lays great importance on games and sports for developing physical faculties of the students, spirit of sportsmanship and leadership qualities. The school has a gymnasium besides facilities and trained teachers for Taekwondo, Kho Kho, Cricket, Kayaking, Boxing, Wushu, Karate, Table Tennis & Skating. The students of the school have won laurels in these disciplines at different competitions held at State and National level.
Co-Curricular Activities
To ensure mass participation and to develop all round personality of the students, the school organizes Social Science & Science exhibitions, adventure and excursion activities to nearby areas of interest, special programs for promotion of music, art, spoken English and dance besides Scouts and Guides camps, Greeting Cards Making competition, English Poem recitation, Poster Making, English Debate, English Calligraphy, Flower Decoration, Quiz, Poem Composition, Group Dance, Hindi Essay Writing, Hindi Poem Writing, Hindi Poem Recitation, Debate, Quiz, Hindi Calligraphy, Group Song, Rangoli, Salad Decoration, English Skit & Solo Song competition.
