LED lights to replace Tube-lights in streets of MP
Good news for MP Citizens! They are going to find their cities decorated with the LED lights very soon...
Madhya Pradesh government has expressed its approval in the regard of installing LED lights in the regions under the Municipal Corporation. The action has been taken to transform the city according to the demands of the changing world. The cities of MP, will be at par with the other ultra-modern metropolitan cities like New Delhi in this aspect, when the project will be successful, giving the towns a glow even in the midnight. As it can be expected, an open tender system will be used to chose the organization whom the work can be assigned. In a meeting held recently on the same issue, at the Directorate of Urban Administration, Esko Company presented the figures of requisites and net expenditure before the officilals. The presentation said that the apparent high cost will be easily met by the advantages offered by the LED system of lighting. More specifically, this project is expected to save about 40% of power bills of the Municipal Corporation. Following personalities were present to give their views on the project - Principal Secretary, Mr. Raghav Chandra; Secretary Urban Administration and Development Mr. S.P.S. Parihar; Commissioner Mr. S.N. Mishra; BEE Sanjeev Garg; Commissioners of various municipal corporations; engineers and other officers to give their structural views.
Currently, the tube lights are sitting in the roads and municipal offices which are soon going to welcome the LEDs. The data from the Electricity board say that about 1,70,31,630 kilowatt of power is consumed by them annually and the LEDs are expected to decrease these figures by about 45% i.e. to about 7664234 kilowatt power per annum. And, the even better news is that the Municipal Corporation is to find savings of about Rs. 22.2 million whereas the net cost of installation will be Rs. 22.7 million, and the project is further going to reduce the bills. So, we have guaranteed benefits from this!
To add another cause, we have the approval of Bureau of Energy Efficiency of the Urban Department. In fact, it has recommended the state government to install the lights in many other corporations other than Bhopal like Burhanpur, Gwalior, Khandwa, Rewa, Sagar, Ratlam, Ujjain, Singrauli, Dewas, Satna and Katni. The presentation of the company added that the expenses of maintenance will be 80% met by the company for the next half of the decade. The rest 20% will be a share of the savings made by the corporations.
