HCL Infosystems Bags Order Worth 1000 Crore from Madhya Pradesh Govt.

This article gives information about newly signed contract between HCL Infosystems and Madhya Pradesh govt. to set up food coupon-based targeted public distribution system

HCL Infosystems, an IT Hardware company from India has bagged an order of worth Rs. 1000 crore from Madhya Pradesh Govt. The aim is to set up food coupon-based targeted public distribution system (TPDS) in the state. The company has a prior experience of handling such project since it had deployed smart card-based PDS system in Chandigarh some time back. The motive of the govt. behind this step is to tackle the issues like duplication of ration cards and food leakage etc. The govt. is also looking forward to reduce misuse of subsidy as well as improve efficiency.

The company would set up a model of food and civil supplies distribution in the state. The aim of the project is to make sure that food grains is made available to the families living below poverty line. The company has already begun working and will cover 50 districts as well as 20,000 fair price shops in the state. The BPL families would get the access to the scheme for free while those above the poverty line shall have to shell out Rs. 250 once as registration fee.
